1935 - Begins the study and practice of karate under the
guidance of instructor Seiichi IZU at
Minato-Ku,
Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture Mainland Japan. Trained himself for six
years until
1940.
1946 - Becomes a
student of karate instructor Choshin CHIBANA Sensei.
1949 - Takes special personal training class by instructor Choshin
CHIBANA at his residence.
1951 - Awarded
Certificate of Instructor by his instructor Choshin CHIBANA Sensei.
1953 - Opens the Shorin-Ryu ShorinKan Nakazato Dojo at
218 Aja,
Naha
City, Okinawa
Prefecture, Japan.
1955 - Appointed as
a karate advisor for the Karate Club of the University of Kagoshima.
Also instructs
karate & kobudo at the Matsuoka Power & Supply Co., Ltd.
for 12 years until 1967.
1956 - Forms the
Okinawa Karate-do Renmei Federation composed of Goju-Ryu, Uechi-Ryu,
Matsubayashi-Ryu
and Shorin-Ryu and becomes a chief director for Shorin-Ryu. The
first
president of the
Federation was Choshin CHIBANA.
1960 - Awarded
certificate of 8th degree instructor (8th dan) by Choshin
CHIBANA.
1967 - Awarded certificate of 9th degree instructor (9th
dan) by Choshin CHIBANA. CHIBANA Sensei
greatly honored Nakazato Sensei by presenting him with his personal
belt, a tribute to the
student's devotion
and martial arts skills.
Awarded letter of appreciation by Junji Nishime san, Chief of the
Okinawa Prefecture Federation,
Japanese Liberty and Democratic Party. Nishime san later became the
Governor of Okinawa
Prefecture.
1969 - Became President of the Shorin-Ryu ShorinKan Karate Association.
1976 - Wins official commendation for meritorious service for
karate training from the late Takeo MIKI
san then President of the
Japanese Liberty and Democratic party, who later became the Prime
Minister of Japan.
1980 - Awarded certificate of 10th degree
instructor (10th dan).
Awarded letter of appreciation by the President of the University of
Kagoshima in recognition of
meritorious service
for karate instruction.
1990 - Awarded commission as Chief Director of the special
program, 'The World Karate Demonstration'
at
the time of the
World Okinawa People Festival.
Awarded commission
of special advisor for the'Social Gathering of
Okinawa Karate-do.
1996 - Led the
Okinawan karate delegations to the Olympic Games in Atlanta,
Georgia;
in addition was asked by the Olympic committee to perform an
individual kata in the opening
ceremonies.
1999 - Headed the Okinawan seminar delegation to the
U.S.A. promoting the 1st Okinawan Traditional
Karate-do & Kobudo World Tournament held in
Naha City, Okinawa.
2000 - Awarded "Kenmukei Bunkazi" - Intangible
Cultural Asset - by the
Okinawan Prefecture Board
of Education.
2001 - Led the
Okinawan delegation to the 2nd Okinawan Traditional
Karate-do & Kobudo Tournament held in
Atlanta,
Georgia. |
